The city is level, spacious and beautiful. Purpose-built facilities permit all Conference activities to take place within the central city area with all venues within easy walking distance of each other.
In addition, the city offers concerts, art galleries, exhibitions, excellent shopping, a casino and nightclubs. Its many cafes and restaurants provide a wide range of cuisine, using high quality local products and represent excellent value for money.
The Christchuch Art Gallery gives delegates the opportunity to view works by major New Zealand artists and also shows touring international exhibitions.
New Zealand wine enjoys an international reputation and the local wineries take advantage of the regional microclimate to produce some stunning Pinot Noirs and Rieslings. There are some 50 wineries in the Canterbury and Waipara regions such as Pegasus Bay, Giesen and Waipara Valley, which makes Christchurch the perfect starting point for a viticultural tour.
The area around Christchurch is breathtakingly beautiful. Local scenic highlights include Lyttleton Harbour, Banks Peninsula and Akaroa. For those of you interested in exploring your own boundaries, Christchurch is a major centre for adventure tourism of all kinds. There are many fine easily accessible golf courses; fishing trips can be readily arranged. Commune with nature amd observe close up the magnificent whales and other sea life. Kaikoura, New Zealand's whale watching centre is only a 2 hour drive from Christchurch along a particularly splendid coastal highway.
Christchurch is also the gateway to the South Island with scenic splendours and outdoor adventures to enjoy. Wanaka and Queenstown are not to be missed!
